Dimensions of checked baggage as per the weight

Each bag must be within the total dimensions of 300 cm (118 inches) (length + width + height). Emirates doesn't consider it as a checked bag if it exceeds the set dimensions.

All the flight routes on which Emirates operates have the weight concept applicable on those. However, it doesn't apply when you fly to and from the Americas and from Africa. This is meant for tickets issued before 9 August 2021).

Economy Class
  • Special and Saver fares - 1 piece up to 23 kg

Business and First Classes

2 pieces up to 32 kg each

Please note

Flights originating from Africa can have two baggage pieces up to 23 kg each in Economy Special if reservation was made before 11 May 2020.

Flights from Australia, New Zealand, or Asia

The weight concept is applicable on the journey in either case, if -

  • If there is a sector in Europe during your flights from New Zealand, Australia, or Asia to North or South America
  • A Dubai stopover is more than 24 hours

Flights into Africa

The weight concept might apply to a stopover of more than 24 hours.

Dimensions of checked baggage as per the piece

Each baggage must be within 150 cm (59 inches) with a total of length + width + height dimensions.

Please note

Emirates charges you a fee if any baggage exceeds 150 cm (59 inches) up to a 300 cm (118 inches) dimensions.

If you are traveling from Dammam International Airport, your bag must be within  215 cm (84.64 inches) or else you have to pay additional charges.

An item that is more than the dimensions mentioned above, Emirates sends it as cargo or freight to your destination. It is not considered for checked baggage.

What is the Emirates Baggage Allowance for its Elite Members?

You can have extra baggage allowance with your Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold, or Silver membership. This is applicable on routes that have the concept of weight.

Get an additional checked baggage piece if you are an Emirates Skywards Platinum or Gold member at -

  • 23 kg per piece in Economy Class
  • 32 kg per piece in Business Class and First Classes
